The Coveside Black Bellied Whistling Duck House Description
Often called "Mexican ducks", they arrive in May after hunting season is over and leave in September before it starts again, which may well contribute to their calm demeanor.
This nest box has a larger opening than our Wood Duck box, though Wood Ducks and Hooded Mergansers like it just as well as the smaller hole.
The Whistlers arrive just as the Wood Ducks are finishing their nesting season. The larger entrance extends the nesting fun for another 4 months.
Mount on a tree or post over or near water. House has a wire ladder to help the ducklings climb out. A lower side guard protects the nest when the side is open for observation.
